Well, this is a new and unfortunate wrinkle. My TV has turned into little more than a glorified screen mirroring advert machine.
Around 5 AM EDT today, I was watching Live TV just fine. I even hopped out and poked around the menu a little before I went to bed. So, I go to bed and come back around 1:30 PM EDT, turn on my TV from a cold boot, and just like that, the channel tiles can't be selected.
I absolutely cannot access TV inputs through any means I can think of since they're not apps, and I cannot even highlight any of the Channel Tiles. Doing so shows me the tiles and an advert like normal, but hitting OK instantly shoves me over onto the advert — which, funny enough, also works as normal, opening the relevant product and allowing me to open the relevant app if I have it, or download the app if I don't.
I can still select the menu items to the left such as Search and Settings, but the "All Things Food" menu soft-locks the TV until I hit the Back or Home button on my remote since it can't display any tiles for whatever reason. Everything else there seems to work from this menu, too — I can even access apps (like Fox Nation) through the Search menu just fine. In addition, AirPlay / Screen Mirroring still works as expected. It's only the Channel Tiles that can't be selected.
It's also worth mentioning that if I open an advert, or try to open the Food menu, then I come back, my Channel Tiles will either be messed up or have completely vanished.
This is the strangest problem I've encountered so far, and it basically makes my television unusable. I'd prefer not to reset my TV to its factory defaults — especially if it won't fix the issue. I've tried opening an app through Search, hard rebooting the TV, and unplugging the TV for a minute and plugging it back in. Nothing changed anything. So… yeah. "Broken TV". What a treat on this Friday the 13th, innit.
