This did not work for me. I tried both settings. My LG magic remote was working fine, then it stopped. I have a Roku on every TV in my house and for the other TVs, I am fine with using the Roku remote to work the TV, but the LG that we have in our living room has too much attached like a sound system to use the more simple Roku remote. Sadly, I may have to find other ways to access my subscribed channels and give up my Roku devices as I replace TVs in my house. It is a shame because I have been using Roku devices for years. Having to use two different remotes is stupid in this day and age.
Hi @renojim - Confirmed that setting stayed at “Enabled”. I’ve even tried changing the setting to “Permissive”, but that didn’t help. I’ll try unplugging power for all devices.
After years with no issues my LG universal remote does not work with roku any longer. I have tried everything even the suggestions on this blog with no luck. Please help.
Same issue. Tried suggested fix but didn't allow me to control Roku with my LG Magic Remote
A couple times in the last couple weeks, a program has paused without me touching the remote. On one occasion, after I paused the program with the (Harmony 650) remote, it started back up on its own. Both times, I had used the Harmony remote to turn everything on and control the Roku, TV (LG C3) and Denon AVR. When I use the Roku remote and the remotes from the other components, I haven't experienced this. Obviously it's a Harmony remote issue but I'm wondering how the Roku could be paused without any input from any remote.
Mine occasionally do things like that. Typically, some type of frequency interference, whether that is due to crowded frequencies or signals from other devices that are close to the frequency the device uses, can cause that, which seems to confuse the Roku. Not sure there is a solution to it at the moment. I would think that Roku would need to improve the devices with either hardware or firmware improvements that prevents that type of interference.
Somewhat glad to hear I'm not the only one who has had this issue. What's odd to me though is that it never happened with my 4660, which I used the Harmony with almost exclusively. And didn't happen with the 4802 in the first 7 or 8 months I owned it until I started using the Harmony again. I guess I'll just live with it. Thanks.
I've got an LG G3 with Magic remote, and it used to control the Roku just fine. LG recently did an update and it no longer works. CEC is setup properly to Enable, and the Roku remote can turn off the TV and change volume, but the LG Magic Remote will not work. Have the Roku 4K streaming stick. Had this problem before and had to change the tv location from US to Canada. Then Canada to US, then Worked Again. This time, that trick didn't work.
Any help?
