how can I get the ad for  “It” off of the Home Screen, it is there all day and is quite scary to my four year old. This is not the first time this has happened. There is often inappropriate advertising on the Home Screen.

You can't, Roku does not support turning this off (part of how they make money) and won't add "rating"/"parental" controls for device as a whole.

If this is intolerable, then Roku is not for you.
