Mirror casting from laptop to TCL Roku TV freezes up while trying to display laptop screen

I have mirror cast to my TCL Roku 50" tv for 4 years.  I recently bought a new laptop and have mirror cast for a month to the tv. Recently it started freezing as it tried to display my laptop screen (every time)

Anyone else ever had this problem. I checked all settings on both devices. Haven't figured out how to do this with the freezing.
