Alex27, That is why I suggested you follow the advice from the error 008 chat. Below is how Burnsy86 delt with the 008 error. There are 2 replys to Burnsy86 that says it worked for them.
My husband found a solution online that worked for our Onn brand Roku tv — hold the reset button for 30+ seconds while the TV is on, and keep holding it until the tv restarts itself and it will bump over to recovery mode (the screen will be purple and it will say recovery mode). The software update was effective from this screen, it didn’t work any other way I tried (e.g. I tried reset from tv off, tried unplugging and plugging in tv, tried rebooting wireless router, connecting to hotspot, etc. etc). Thank goodness it worked.
I am getting error 003 to check my network. This is a new roku stick and it's failing on the setup. My Internet connection wifi is ok. I already rebooted the wifi router and the roku stick. I also reset the roku stick and tried to switch the update server in the secret menu. No luck.

Hi,
I was streaming normally before until my roku express was forcibly prompted to update with no option to update later.
Issue is that it keeps failing to install since it loads the update all the way to 100% and then produces error 004 "can't update software, Please try again later".
UPDATE: Now, it´s just forcibly trying to update on its own!
it doesn´t even require my input anymore
2ND UPDATE: It's back to normal after sucessfully restarting although its not clear ,if the update was made since when checked it says it still misssing one software update

Same problem. Fortunately a hard power off/on fixes it. Somebody screwed the pooch on this one and let untested S/W go out the door. Hopefully Roku's S/W "engineers" will find their bug and release another update.
We are having the same issue with failed update with error 004 for the past two days. Tried unplugging and plugging back in. Still no success.
The update got up to 83% twice and then gave the error 004 message.
