Is there a way that roku can stop be so selfish about what apps to download on the tv?  We need our third party apps.  we don't want to pay $18 for youtube premium.  We want to download apps like smart tube, onstream, teatv, kodi, live net tv, film plus, cinema hd, and more apks.

Roku devices don't support APKs at all and they have no interest in apps that promote pirating, so no.
