Software update loop - 75in UHD
my tv (less then 2 years old) is stuck in a software loop, connects to internet, update fails code 008, then tries to reconnect to wifi.
Roku will not provide a USB software update because it is out of warranty..
How is this acceptable ? Where Roku can essentially lock you out of your tv because it is out of warranty, with zero recourse…
BE WARNED ! you will be stuck with a useless TV.
I don't believe warranty status has anything to do with downloading an update.
warranty status should have zero effect on firmware updates
roku suggests i call a TV repair man ... for a firmware update
scam product, scam company
Hello! @Britchie151,
Thank you for your post in the Roku Community!
We appreciate you reaching out to us about updating your Roku TV. We're pleased to assist you.
Do you have a Roku Branded TV or a Roku TV? A Roku-branded TV is manufactured by Roku (Roku TV Select and Roku TV Plus), while a Roku TV is manufactured by a Roku Partner (TCL, Sharp, etc.).
If your Roku streaming device is stuck on a software update, the service may be temporarily unresponsive. If an error code is encountered while attempting to update the software, wait a few minutes and try again. If Roku is aware of an extended outage, an alert will be displayed near the top of the Roku support site. If you see an alert here, try again after the outage.
If there is no alert and you continue to see the error message after multiple attempts, the update failure is likely due to a network connectivity issue. Try the steps to help resolve the problem.
You can connect your streaming device to a mobile hotspot as a temporary workaround to ensure there is no issue with your device.

Thanks for the reply,
The tv is a onn. Roku
The internet connection is fine, it tests with high signal with both wifi and hard lined. The tv would not update and continued to function fine, until a reset was performed. Now it is stuck in the loop of being unable to update.
Roku support told me the TV needs a manual firmware update downloaded to the tv via USB, there is a list of downloads on their site for this issue. However since the tv is "out of warranty" ( 1.9 years old) they can not provide a firmware update.
Appreciate the help.
