Roku Streambar SE as audio only for OTA antenna stations

I have a 2008 Panasonic 37” HDTV that does not have a HDMI-ARC input.  I connected the optical digital audio output on my tv to the Roku Streambar SE as per the directions.  I cannot play the audio through the Streambar.  With my older Visio soundbar it worked fine.  Any suggestions what I may have to do to make this work?

Welcome to the Roku Community, skc7!

Thank you for letting us know about this issue with your Roku Streambar SE.

To simplify the setup and use of your Streambar or soundbar, we recommend using the HDMI port on your TV labeled ARC. This single connection transmits both video from your Streambar or soundbar to your TV and audio from your TV and connected devices (Blu-ray player, game console) to your Streambar or soundbar.

If you do not use the HDMI port labeled ARC, you need to connect the included optical cable to get audio from your TV and connected devices to your Streambar or soundbar.

    • Note: When using an optical cable, be sure to remove the protective plastic cap from each end of the cable before inserting the connectors. Failing to do so may result in a faulty connection or damage to the cable or optical port.

For detailed instructions visit the support page on How to set up your Roku Streambar Pro or Roku Smart Soundbar with a non-Roku TV

    Hope this helps!

    Thanks,
    Jharra
