Free subscription after years of free service

Why am I getting charged $12.95 for a subscription? My understanding was that with  Roku equipment,  the service was free.  And,  if I delete the "subscription", does it turn off my equipment? I'm unable to find any thing on this subject.

Re: Free subscription after years of free service

Roku is free, but there's plenty of premium services that require a subscription not to mention the multitude of scams out there.  What does the description of the charge say?  You can find any subscriptions that you have through Roku by logging into your Roku account at https://my.roku.com using the email address that's displayed on your Roku account by navigating to Settings->System->About.
