Why is Disney+ Plus not available in the Philippines on Roku?

Disney plus just recently launch here in the Philippines, but still its not showing up on roku channel, tried to add it via web but the add button is disabled, and no way of adding it

  • Hi renzesguerra thurdy16,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We do not have a dedicated Roku presence in Philippines at this time, so it is very likely the channel is not currently available on the Roku platform.

For more information, you'd want to contact any specific channel/service provider to inquire further about whether they offer their channel/service on the Roku platform in your region.

Thanks for your interest and we hope to expand our presence soon.

    Best regards,
    Mary

  • That's exactly my dilemma. I also contacted Disney+ support about this and awaiting for their response. I have Roku Premiere btw. I suggest you do the same so they can expedite the process. The only reason I bought Roku is to watch Disney+

        Hello crcav

We appreciate you reaching out to the Roku community!

The Philippines is not an officially supported region for Roku which is why you are unable to add Disney+.

For more information, you'd want to contact any specific channel/service provider to inquire further about whether they offer their channel/service on the Roku platform in your region.

Thanks for your interest and we hope to expand our presence soon.

    Hello seanray7 @markee23

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community!

Channel availability on the Roku platform is determined by each channel provider themselves. Channels are only available in the locations where they choose to publish their channel (app). We don't currently market or sell devices directly in your region, so many channels/services may not currently be available. However, others such as YouTube and Netflix work in many locations.

For more information, you'd want to contact any specific channel/service provider to inquire further about whether they offer their channel/service on the Roku platform in your region. We appreciate your contact, and we are always looking to expand our presence.

    Regards,
    Karla

Same issue with mine. I have 4 roku devices and the reason also is to watch Disney+. Disney+ recently released in the Philippines but I have the channel in the list but unable to login my email account. It says that the email is unavailable but I already subscribe to Disney+ and could access it thru web. I also know geo-restrictions but then again, Disney+ is already released in the PH. Can you look into this...

Disney+ now available in Philippines. But not in Roku. Why? When? Is Roku doing something or not, will wait for a week. If none, better to dump the stick and switch to chromecast guys.

  • I actually see Disney Plus but when I try to log in, it's asking for an email address instead of the cellphone number I used to sign up. Can this be updated by Roku?

Roku has nothing to do with how you sign into a channel/app unless the subscription is paid through Roku.

This is all on disney. They need to inform roku that disney+  is now available on our regiom. Then all roku has to do is update restrictions then we just update our roku then it should be available. What a waste of money and very frustrating!

I've just bought Roku Premiere for Disney plus PH, but found out it is not available in our country. I am greatly disappointed with this. I hope Roku finds a way to make the app available here in our country.

lets just buy mi or chromecast and dump Roku,  and move on. such a waste of money. Its on their remote but not available to add. what a joke.

  • Same dilemma here. Please let me know if you hear anything from Disney+. Thank you.

  • Got this reply from Disney+. Looks like it will take a long time before it will be available in Roku.

    "

Thank you for writing to Disney+.

With regard to your query, we would like to let you known that we continuously review our device list to make it more exhaustive. While we do not have Roku in our roadmap at this point, we will pass on your concerns to the relevant team.

Meanwhile, your support and patience is highly appreciated.

  • Same here no Disney+ but the remote has Disney+ button 🙂 Roku is already being sold locally here in Philippines. I hope we get this channel soon.

  • Same! I bought the Roku Ultra because of Disney+. It doesn't have a search button either, so I don't understand. It's kind of unfair that the choices we have are limited when it comes to major streaming platforms.

  • Hi,

Disney+ is already available here in the Philippines but I cannot find it in the channel store. Also, there is no 'Search Channel' option. I have noticed as well that there is no 'Bass Bosst' option. Another issue I encountered was when I press and hold the microphone button on the remote control, the screen just brings me to the Streaming Channels tab. Are there limitations on the Roku features here in the Philippines?

    Thanks!

jkdegawan, the Philippines is not officially supported by Roku so there will be a lot of features that don't work and channels/apps that aren't available.

that seems to mean that the roku devices being sold here with disney+ logo are illegitimate devices
