So many do NOT want Spanish commercials posted and KUDO'd on other community strings. I have more acquaintances in St Louis that speak Czech or Bosnian than all those who speak Spanish. (I speak only English.) There are Spanish stations. How many English commercials are on them (or Bosnian, Czech, Chinese, etc.)? Why is Roku ignoring all the community complaints about Spanish commercials? I guess because Roku doesn't care. I'm finding alternatives on my TV to get away from this annoyance. Thank you (for ignoring this too, I'm sure).
Okay, Roku! You are losing subscribers and you don't seem to care. This is America, we speak English. There are many Spanish channels available for those who want to live here yet not learn the language of our country, so WHY are the rest of us stuck with all these Spanish commercials? After two YEARS of negative comments. Do we need to start calling your advertisers directly and telling them that we are now boycotting them specifically and leaving Roku? I have already called several companies to let them know that if people want to shave their groin areas, fine, but I don't need to watch their commercials on, in the middle of the day while young children are watching!
President Trump has made “English” our National Language, why then are you making this English speaking American endure Hispanic commercials. Would it not be correct to have “ALL” commercials in English and have Hispanic subtitles as an option

You VERY LIKELY haven't even read a book in that time, but you're mentioning it as if there's supposed to be some kind of cultural shift since then and people should have already learned English.
..You're expecting over 55 million Spanish-speaking Americans to learn English in 90 days when you probably don't even read a book once a year or you wouldn't be so enraged by cultural inclusion of a massive demographic of people, many of whom are your neighbors or you wouldn't see those commercials. That's how targeted demographics works.
Also, if any of you read, you might learn how the world works enough to know Roku isn't controlling those channels that are playing Spanish ads.

Roku primarily leases channels and those people leasing have to follow simple rules as to what they can, and cannot show, and that's it.
On top of this; Being upset by simply hearing/seeing the Spanish language is anti-American because it rejects the diversity and inclusion that the Statue of Liberty (and our core American values) symbolizes—welcoming immigrants of all backgrounds and languages seeking freedom and opportunity. Embracing Spanish reflects the true spirit of America as a nation built on acceptance and cultural richness. This is how we became a world-power and leader in arts, science, etc.
PS, people who are not racist don't have this problem and wow, life is much better. I don't get angry or upset when I hear another language, for example.

i really don't want to get involved with this but, I'll throw in my $.02.
1. You actually pay attention to the commercials? I pay as little attention as possible.
2. I have much more important things to be concerned about than any ad I might come across.
3. If I happen to notice an ad in another language, I usually think "well they wasted their money on that as far as I'm concerned.

I haven’t cared for the Spanish commercials but you make a really good point actually. Yet I understand where the OP is coming from just bc those commercials tend to be loud so they feel intrusive when you don’t speak the language & can’t understand what they are saying.
it’s interesting to hear that’s happening in other areas because I’m in Texas so I simply assumed I get them a portion of the time due to the large number of Spanish speakers here - even if I personally don’t.
They don't care what you want they're accommodating people from other countries They don't like the way we vote obviously and they are accommodating everybody else file a complaint with the FCC when you heard their pocketbook they finally hear the American people's voices
Yes it is....now they've increased to at least one but usually two of them every commercial break...I live in Florida where speaking Spanish is shoved down our throats !! I should not have it FORCED on me in my own home..this is America ! The language is English ! Plain and simple. It's great it doesn't bother you but having to listen to it at every commercial break puts me in an unpleasant mood...I mute them and then end up missing parts of my shows ...looks like my 2 Roku will be on eBay soon it's increasing to where all of them will be in Spanish...Xfinity has my Internet I'm making it a package deal now ! I think Roku has a lot of oversized balls to do this in the first place I hope rest of u get rid of yours get fire TV cable or satellite, YouTube TV, or Hulu live. There are many choices out there !!

As of today, 4/3/25 it has been 33 days since Trump made English the official US language. Are you expecting people to learn a language in a month? You probably couldn't finish a book in a month.
It sure the **bleep** is! The fact we even have to see any ad content after purchasing the ROKU device thinking they(Roku) would be able to control or filter out the non english ads is BS. I lost many a nights sleep wondering if I could be a form of racist for not understanding what the ad was selling. As I lay in bed counting the burros leaping over the fence wishing I knew what they were saying in those ads, Then I realized my housekeeper could translate for me, but i could tell that started to annoy her. She was far to busy to help with my illiteracy. My only hope at this point is to ask Hector, our landscaper if he would be willing to esplain. Hey if you start running some Chinese ads, please let me know where you are running them and I’ll watch. Getting a chance to practice my Chinese would (might!) be worth actually watching TV channels with commercials in them!
Why aren’t they paying attention? Well for starters, I think all the people who have complained amount to less than 0.0003% of Roku’s user base. And those users, in the commercial TV lingo, are “The Product”. It’s “The Customer” (the advertiser) who is calling the shots. Now, of course, the customer wants his ads to be as effective as possible, but he may be satisfied that this is about as good as it gets. In any case, it’s the customer who is paying for your TV. Maybe let them know their commercials are not well-targeted in your case. Who knows – they might be surprised. Then again, they might be the only customer that whatever-channel-you-are-watching can get!

Second, learn the definition of American which can mean 1) an American Indian of North America or South America 2) a native or inhabitant of North America or South America and 3) a native or inhabitant of the U.S. Approximately 70 million people in the US are Hispanic or of Hispanic origin, which also includes those whose families are both from North and South America. Finally, take an ancestry test and learn where your family history is really from.

🙄😞 good day to all, since fall 2023~ it has become more apparent & invasive of foreign language commercials...even though roku settings are configured to"english as preferred language". what a waste of corporate investment of ads being presented in foreign language to consumers who don't have clue of what they are conveying!! most of ads are asian/spanish/portuguese/thailand & the list grows!! roku user goes through a maze of support topics --yet useless resolution in privacy controls.
what's worse & disrespectful is these ads interrupt an urgent weather alert or during a devastation of human lives/a funeral memorial or educational social helpful topics. during the ad interruption, one can though, just simply jump to another app...then back track or prepare a snack/do chores. society seems to be losing more "freedom of choice" being controlled by greedy corporate or politics creating a divisive america from kindness & love to violence & hatred.
roku was the best media player entering the market when it"launched its first streaming player in 2008. the streaming revolution now had a platform. viewers loved it. within six years, the company sold more than 10 million devices". so please respect your customers by offering simple control app "blocking foreign language" invasion to english speaking consumers. roku system settings is ineffective. thank you!! loyal 15 year roku 3 user!!!
This is America. I don't mind if you show mexican commercials, but show us a little respect and add English sub-titles or something similar. If I have to watch commercials, I should be able to understand them.

I’ve never seen anything like that, but of course, that demonstrates one of the strengths of the Roku platform: If you don’t like a channel, then there are plenty of other channels available.
Of course, if it’s a commercial-oriented channel, then the advertiser is the customer. As such, things like funerals and weather alerts are interrupting the customer’s paid content, not the other way around.
If you do wish to watch commercials, you may still be able to find a channel where the customers are more to your liking. Or, just be done with the commercials and watch something that doesn’t have them. Lots of options on Roku.
Even on The Roku Channel, Roku may not have 100% control of the ads. The content providers, especially on some of the "live" channels, may require certain ads. It also depends on the ad-server company. I'm not certain just how much ad-serving Roku itself actually does, or if it's farmed out to one or more 3rd parties.
You’re getting Spanish ads because there’s enough Spanish speakers in your market area to warrant them. Should companies ignore a sizable market just because a few people “don’t like to hear Spanish?” Not going to happen. Get used to it.

Everyone else: Go to settings/privacy/advertising and deselect personalize ads. That seems to have almost eliminated Spanish language ads for me. Might be a coincidence, though, and I do still get some local ads. Localizing and personalizing seem to be two different things, though.
Trump has made English the language of the US not Spanish, they have their own channels and countries and if they want that then go their or to those channels.
File a complaint with the FCC If they get enough complaints they'll stop this **bleep**.
