Roku Channel plays commercials tv startup

I have a Roku Ultra attached to my non-roku tv.  When the tv is turned on, the Roku reinstalls the Roku Channel.  Then it starts playing 1+ minute commercials.  It does this every single time you turn on the tv.

How do I stop this?  We're about ready to toss it in the trash and go with another brand device.

    Are you pressing Play/Pause or OK on your Roku remote when you turn on the TV?  Are you using one of the screensavers with little ads that float by?  If so, try pressing Home on the remote a couple of times instead of whatever button you're pressing now.

      No, it's turned off in power mode.  So when the tv comes on, it powers on.  I've tried turning power saver off, the same thing happens.
