Anyone get this problem watching YouTube videos on a Roku TV? Every so often while watching a YouTube video, a commercial will break during the video, the screen goes black but I can still hear sound. I have to exit out of the video, try to find it again and restart it.
I don't have this problem with YouTube on other TV's such as a Samsung or Sharp. I don't know why the picture would go black during the commercials.
I noticed that the Roku TV does something the other TV's don't do. It tries to show a QR code while doing a picture in picture of the commercial. Could this be the problem?
Hi @Sodiesopa,
Welcome to the Roku Community!
We understand that you're having an issue with the YouTube app on your Roku TV. No worries—I’m here to help you get it all sorted out!
Could you let us know if the issue happened on specific channels when it occurred, and what OS version your Roku TV is running?
In the meantime, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Once you've done this, restart the TV. To do this, go to settings > system > power-system restart.

I'll try doing a restart and then reload the app.
It is the latest update for the Roku TV, this only happens with YouTube and their commercials. When the commercial plays, a QR code pops up on the right side and the video part goes black. When the commercial ends, the video stays black and I can still hear the audio. I think it's the QR code pop up that is causing the problem. I don't see this happen on other streaming TVs + YouTube.
Thank you for keeping us updated, @Sodiesopa!
Please let us know how it goes after you complete the troubleshooting steps. If the issue persists, we strongly recommend contacting support, as they manage their app independently of the Roku streaming platform.
You can reach them for further assistance here: YouTube Support.
We hope this issue gets resolved soon, and we appreciate your understanding!

The power restart seems to have worked, no more black screens. Two days now. Thanks
