Paramount Plus audio and video is out of sync on my Roku device

CBS Live on Paramount Plus has audio/video sync issues. The longer you watch the worse it becomes. Only happens on CBS Live. Have unplugged the ROKU power supply and the router power supply. No help. Hope someone has a solution.

No other app is affected; Netflix, Amazon, Sling, IMDB. Contacted customer support. Found out what most all have found out. They are useless. Say they will contact you via email. Has not happened.

  • Hey dfry

We do apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Does the issue only occur on Paramount Plus or across other channels installed on your Roku? If it's just on one channel, contact the channel provider's customer support team to report the issue and get help.

Channels on Roku are maintained by the channel developer themselves. In this case, there's likely an issue within that specific channel that needs to be addressed with an update from the channel developer.

You can contact Paramount Plus Support here.

    All the best,
    Kariza

Same issue. Only Paramount + live TV affected. Other Paramount + content streams fine. Hope they can fix this. Same problem with Hitachi Roku TV and Roku 2. Must be the Paramount + app on the Roku devices. Paramount + live TV on my phone on same house wifi works fine.

      Thanks for the post.

Are you experiencing this audio video sync issue on just the Paramount+ channel on your Roku devices or on other channels as well?

If other channels are working correctly, and you only experience this issue on the Paramount+ channel (app), that is likely an indication that the issue lies within that particular channel. In these cases, the channel provider will need to investigate the issue in order to help resolve it.

What Roku model number? What Software version

There have been reports in the past regarding some apps gettin out of sync when certain audio features are enabled, including leveling. I never experienced them, so I didn't pay that close attention to it, but other long-time users may remember. Not sure if this has returned, but the OS version might help determine that. And some of the ore knowledgable users may be able to offer better guidance beyond turning off leveling (if it's on).

I uninstalled the app on both Rokus, 3 and Stick, restarted both and it  appeared to 'fix' the 3 (didn't try the Stick before bedtime). Two days later they were both out of sync again!  I cancelled the app but restarted because my subscription goes to Aug. 14 and I was hoping someone would find an answer. Morning shows like Let's Make a Deal, Price Is Right, some soap opera are all fine . But even the supposed LIVE local news at noon is out of sync!  Not happy!  :(

Save yourself the endless grief! Go with the cheaper plan and ALL those shows are recorded for you to view that evening. It's not LIVE anymore but what's the point! It never works LIVE trying to watch CBS Live. I am very happy now. I pay $4.99 and many movies and shows are there for me! :)

  • I'm having the same problem with Paramount Plus live CBS, on my tv, with Roku streaming. It starts just fine, then the lapse in audio, then rebooting. It works great on my laptop and iPad, connected to the same wifi. I don't have any problem with any other streaming channels. Help!

  • SICK and tired of it! They act like I am the only one with this problem but HERE it is with multiple customers!

  • I'm having the exact same issues with CBS live TV channel. only with my Roku 3 exactly as this user describes the voice and video become further and further apart as you watch the program this is only with CBS live all other channels work fine I have a work around it's not a fix just a workaround you can cast CBS live TV from your phone to your Roku and you will get the Channel with no lag. Hope they fix this issue.

Anyone have the issue with chromecast? Or is this just a roku issue? Btw it works fine on my laptop too.

      Thanks for the post.

If you you are only experiencing this issue on the CBS channel, there may be an issue with that channel specifically.

For more information about that channel's functionality, you'll want to contact CBS support directly to inquire further. Many channels on Roku are developed and maintained by the channel provider themselves.

I too am having audio video sync issues on my roku 3 for CBS live tv.  AFter a few minutes of watching the unsynced audio to video, the channel will crash. I have no problems w CBS live on my ipad nor on my firestick. Therefore it's a problem w Paramount+ on the roku.  I only have this problem on Parmount Plus, no other channels.
I have followed the troubleshooting steps provided by Emeralddahlia, & nothing has changed.

It might be difficult depending on what device from Roku you have. My troubleshooting worked for my older Ruku Stick.

I think Paramount + uses different versions of it's app platforms based on each of the Roku devices because when I called she asked me to give her information provided in the settings within the Paramount + app I had installed. So I think calling support via the website may very just a bit.

  • I had a terrible time trying to fix voices of people talking that were lagging behind the video.  You would see people on the show ( LIve with Kelly and Ryan) and right at the beginning it would be fine then after a few seconds the peoples voices talking was not par with what was showing up on the screen. Nothing I did helped, I even got a new Roku device, which did not help.   I even got a notice saying the show was not available at this time, try again later,    At times it would crash entirely.     This only happened on Live with Kelly and Ryan using a paid subscription to Paramount Plus. using a Roku Device on a flat screen Vizio TV.  Now,  I used to Bring up Paramount Plus and scroll down to Kelly and Ryan Live and everything was just fine.    Then about a year later all of a sudden things changed , voice not keeping up with the picture of the actors talking and then after  awhile it would crash and say content, show was not available at this time try again later.   I was absolutely upset as I tried all the recommendations by Roku and Paramount Plus.  Nothing worked.  Then I even thought it was the TV.

The Fix and now works perfectly when going to Kelly and Ryan show through Paramount plus using Roku express.      Click on Roku go to home , click on Paramount Plus, THEN go to the left of the screen after Paramount Plus is up and scroll down to where it says LIVE click on that and it should show Live with Kelly and Ryan. Click on that and this solved my problem perfectly,  Hope this helps someone out there.

  • I have the same issue with paramount+ audio delay.  Plus I also have issues with the steam stopping/ kicking me out frequently.

    Probably won't keep this service.

      Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out to the Roku community!

We're sorry to hear that you're having a channel playback issue with Paramount plus.

We recommend starting here to troubleshoot channel issues: Follow these steps in order:
      1. Navigate to the channel tile on the Roku home screen, press the * key on your remote, and choose 'Remove channel'.
      2. Next, restart your device from Settings>System>System restart. (For Roku TV Settings>System>Power>System restart)
      3. Once your player/TV starts up again, go to 'Streaming Channels' on the Home screen, and add the channel back once more.
You may also refer to this link: How to resolve a channel playback issue | Official Roku Support
If that still doesn't clear up the issue you're experiencing, we recommend contacting the channel provider directly to follow up for more help. They’ll be able to best assist with any issues that are occurring within their channel.

You can reach Paramount+ support here: https://help.paramountplus.com/s/

      Please keep us posted.

      Regards,
      Mary

We did this RokuMary-F ... doesn't fix the problem

Reducing the resolution to 720P appears to fix the problem - but why should i have to downgrade the resolution just for one channel?

Also note that my Amazon Fire Stick does NOT have this problem

        Thanks

Yes, the problem is still there. It has not been working right since May. Neither Paramount or Roku seem to care about it, I have contacted Paramount technical in July, they said they were working on it, but no change. Fortunately I can get my local CBS on antenna, so I can still watch football.

Yeps, happening in Australia with Discovery grrrrrrr

  • This was the fix for a flashing screen problem. It resolved that problem, and as an added bonus, fixed the sync issue I'd been unable to solve with all the other suggestions (remove channel, sign out, restart, etc).

Disable framerate matching:  Settings/System/Advanced system settings/Advanced display settings/Auto-adjust display refresh rate = Off

Glad you got it fixed. However, my problem is I have a Hitachi-Roku TV, and that setting is not available, nor the setting to change the video resolution that worked on my Roku 2. The Paramount Plus Live audio and video go out of sync on my Hitachi-Roku TV after a minute or two. I am sure the problem is a bug in the Paramount Plus app that affects its function on this Hitachi-Roku TV that they are unwilling or unable to fix. Since Paramount has not responded to my complaints, I thought maybe posting here would get somebody at Roku to look at it and contact Paramount, but so far no luck with that either.

Posting to say that the problem is now FIXED!!! It looks like a recent update to the Paramount plus channel included a bug fix, so the Live part of Paramount plus now works without any audio-video sync issues on my Hitachi-Roku TV. I also note that I no longer need to use 720p on my Roku 2, it works fine on Auto resolution setting.

Too bad it took a year and a half to fix this bug.

  • After complaining 3 times to customer service with no response about Paramount plus all you’ll be in Old of sink today I canceled my subscription
