Re: Is there away to set geolocation inside the Roku device?

Probably no. Roku geolocates based on IP address and connected account, maybe the build model number (letters at end of model number)

Re: Is there away to set geolocation inside the Roku device?

would it be correct to say that if I have a geolocation problem (YouTube TV) that it originates from my isp provider (Cox)?  thinking they are screwing around to coax me back to Cox TV?  is that legal?

Seems to work fine on Apple devices....

Roku probably uses a bought in service, and some services are better than others.

Re: Is there away to set geolocation inside the Roku device?

Roku devices have no provisions for receiving live over-the-air broadcasts. (Roku TVs with Roku capability built in DO have antenna inputs for this purpose.) So any local channel programming received on a Roku device must be streamed via one of the streaming channel apps that carry local channels (YouTube TV, fubu, Hulu + Live TV, etc.). It is that channel app that determines which locality's stations you get.

Some (all?) of these channel apps determine your location by the IP number assigned to you by your internet provider. If your internet provider assigns or changes your IP number to one attached to one of its servers located in a different area, that could change the local stations you are provided.

You can use a website like https://www.iplocation.net/ to see where the IP number assigned by your internet provider indicates you are located. If this doesn't represent your actual area, contact your internet provider and ask to be reassigned an IP in your area.

Re: Is there away to set geolocation inside the Roku device?

I understand OTA is a no go with Roku....YouTube TV or Roku somehow get your current location info and assign the relevant Local Channels on YouTube TV.

The Local Stations I receive are on YouTube TV not OTA.

Re: Is there away to set geolocation inside the Roku device?

I did look up my current ip address location and it said Providence.....I'm just trying to pin down why the app keeps putting me in the Hartford area.  Is the problem Roku or Google (YoutubeTV)......seems to be Google...now how do I contact a real person to hash this out?

Took me awhile but i finally found a device that would let me change my Current Location.....had to use an Android tablet to get YouTube TV to change what it was picking up as location.
