Well, back when the OP was created in 2020, it was common place to block ads on a desktop using browser extensions. The was also android apps to sideload to block youtube ads. It made more sense back in 2020 to ask how to get "feature parity" on Roku.
For 2023 and beyond, it seems feature parity has be achieved. Youtube has gone to war with ad blocking regardless of the platform;
