Having a channel and not authorized to watch shows. How to fix that?

I have ROKU, 'downloaded' History channel (and others) and when I go to watch a show/series, I get the "YOU ARE NOT AUTHORIZED TO WATCH THIS SHOW" screen.. What is up with that and how can I watch those shows??

I just spent over an hour on live chat and was sent to 6 different people who couldn't answer my questions or help resolve.

A lot of channels/apps require a cable subscription to view their content, so that's the first question - do you have cable or some pay TV service and if so does your package include The History Channel?  There are alternatives using something like DirectTV streaming, FubuTV, Philo, and others, but in general you won't be able to get traditional cable channels without paying.
