No more videos, just a photo...wth?

So my Roku video doorbell was doing short videos but now it only takes a single photo - which is not helpful at all. Looking at one of the questions it's unclear. But, do I have to have a subscription for my video doorbell to take videos even though I delete them the day of?

And, why is it that no video was ever longer than 12 seconds?

I can't answer the second question, but yes you have to have a subscription to get videos which are saved to the "cloud".
