Battery died over night.

Jump to solution

I just bought an Roku outdoor camera SE the battery died overnight down to 24% and I had the pinwheel of death pitch frozen from overnight. Try turning off turning on going to try again once it’s charged up. Is this typical of a camera dying overnight because I bought two and install two yesterday and the other one is fine.

Hi @Puffin65,

Thanks for posting in the Roku Community!

We understand that your Roku Wire-free Outdoor Camera SE has an issue with the battery draining too fast. We would be more than willing to assist you with this issue.

Let's see if this will work for you!

  1. Make sure both the Roku Outdoor Camera (Battery) and Roku Base Station are updated to the latest firmware.
  2. Check to make sure the battery is fully charged before testing. A full charge from 0-100% takes ~4 hours.
  3. Check the signal strength of the Roku Outdoor Camera (Battery), and try repositioning the camera or base station to make sure it’s at 3 bars for testing.
  4. Check the battery usage by going to the affected camera in the Roku Smart Home app by doing the following:
Tap the gear icon in the upper right corner
    > Tap Device info
    > Tap Battery Usage
    > The page will show the battery's breakdown from the last full charge. If the days and all usage are low, proceed.

We hope you find this information helpful. Please let us know if the issue persists.

Cheers,
Riamie
