Transfer ownership of Roku Account

3700X - Roku Express

Issue

This Roku Account needs to be updated. The email address belonged to somebody who died three years ago.

Will a hard power reset (unplug, count to 30, replug) disrupt too many things? (Want to keep the channels).

Sorry for my ignorance. I was uninvolved in setting this up.

No, what you're proposing is essentially "turning it off and on again."

If you have access to the old email account, you could continue to use it with your Roku. However, if you ever do need to manage the account (set a PIN to restrict purchases, update a credit card if one is on file, etc) you'll need to be able to log in to the Roku account.

Or, you could create a new Roku account using your email address, and tie the Roku device to your account. You'll need to pick out the apps you want, and log in to any service you have (Netflix, Hulu, etc).

But to answer your question directly, turning it off and on won't hurt anything.

By the way, what issue are you having that makes you want to power it down?

Thank you for your reply.

I am trying to sign in to the Paramount Plus app.

When I try to subscribe, the "Roku Pay" PIN dialog comes up and I can go no further.

I try to start a subscription and I am blocked, even though I update all of the fields.

The Roku account owner had a PIN set up. If you have access to the late owner's Roku account, log in and reset the PIN.

If you don't, but if you do have access to the late owner's email account, get a password reset, log in, and reset the PIN.

If you have neither, you might want to see if another family member has that and can assist.
