Roku Media Player occasionally cannot find Media Server
I have been using Roku Media Player (RMP) on my 4 Roku streaming sticks for years. Occasionally the App will be unable to see the media server (Serviio v 2.4). Rebooting the Roku stick or the server is required to remedy the situation. DLNA servers periodically announce their presence on the network so that clients like RMP can locate them and connect. I found that if I configure my server to shorten the announcement duration from the default 3 minutes to 15 seconds, the problem goes away. 15 seconds is a very short announcement period, and the periodic announcements are not the sole means for a client like RMP to find a server. Clients can also request that servers announce their presence. It appears RMP is either not using this method or it is not working reliably. I presume this is a bug that hopefully can be addressed in future releases of RMP- Hopefully soon! This issue occurred with all my 3810x streaming sticks, so I see no need to provide serial numbers or device IDs. They are running software version 14.5 The RMP version is 5.5 build 13 (the latest) If you really need a tracker ID, I can reset the server to it's default broadcast and wait for next time.250Views0likes0CommentsTry to remove 'Recommended for you' on home screen.
The instructions below does not do anything. I have tried updating, resetting, and rebooting before and after following the instructions below. Please inform me what can be done. Go to Settings > Home Screen > Recommendation Rows. You'll find an option to show or hide them. After that, try restarting your Roku: Settings > System > Power > System restart.222Views0likes1Commentin literal desperate need of help adjusting brightness and/or menu/input from phone or via remote

I keep trying to watch TV shows on my Roku Express 4K+, but the closed captions keep moving around the screen according to who is talking. It's like trying to play whack-a-mole with my vision. If there are multiple people, and the conversation is fast, there is no way to anticipate where the CC will show up, and by the time my eyes get there, it's gone and I try to move to the next one, and on and on. Try watching an episode of Friends this way, and it will drive you insane. I lose most of the conversation, because it's impossible to find the text in time, not to mention the lost time actually looking at the scene to see what's going on. It's like running a f*cking marathon with my eyes, and after one TV show I'm completely exhausted. Is there a way to stop this closed caption insanity? I'm watching the shows on Peacock, Paramount+, MAX, and Hallmark+ on the Roku Channel.1KViews0likes8CommentsCaptions Text Size - We need Extra Medium
There have been many complaints about caption styling options over years and I've made my peace with Serif font and the even worse san serif font. But I'm here to talk about text size. First of all Small & Extra Small are completely useless, not sure anyone bothers using those, please speak up if you do. Large can work for small sentences but usually anything more than 6 words is stretched across the TV screen to the point I have to physically turn my head to read the full dialogue, which makes Extra Large also useless. Which leaves us with Medium text size, it's readable and handles heavy dialogue well enough, but you always wish it was a bit larger. Roku team, it took you years to add Bright White to the captions options, now it's time to add Extra Medium. 1-2 pts larger is all I'm asking for here, and honestly just copy Netflix's styling already. They have the right size and it's bold. Give use a Bold effect too. Rant over.Solved324Views0likes1CommentTV no longer works after Roku's Software Update
I have a perfectly good 9 year old TV with two HDMI inputs. My DVD player works with it and my laptop works with it. Since the Roku update, the Roku no longer works with my TV. At first I thought it was the Roku box. I bought a new Roku box. It worked fine until we got to the "checking for updates" part of the installation. After the update the new Roku no longer worked (TV says invalid signal). Roku tells me I need to contact the TV manufacturer for an update for the TV, so I do that. The manufacturer tells me there are no updates available and there will be no updates in the future. SO ROKU KILLED MY TV. A perfectly good TV with HDMI inputs will no longer work on any Roku box. I am SO TIRED of all this technology that DOESN'T WORK. This problem exists on 3 different Roku model boxes that I have. I returned the last one noting it was defective, before I realized it was a "death blow" update that Roku sent to my unit! How can they NOT realize that many people keep TV's for more than a few years!!!2.2KViews0likes4CommentsUnable to screen mirror all devices to TLC Roku TV
I use to be able to screen mirror my phone and computer to my tv and now I am not able to any more. I have been using other post to troubleshoot my tv and I have factory reset my tv I am still not able to screen mirror. Is my tv just too outdated now to support this feature, if so then why do I have AirPlay and HomeKit on my Tv? I have to Issue Report Tracker if you need it to help me. 43 TLC Roku TV682Views0likes1CommentRoku Recent Channels Change
Who's bright idea was it to change the 'Recent Channels' list to include channels that aren't LIVE? This list used to just include LIVE channels you had actually been watching. Now it seems to include channels that aren't live but are halted at where I last changed away from them. Bonehead change here Roku.1.5KViews0likes2Comments
