Roku TV Powering On for first time each day
I bought a Roku 40" select 40R3B5/40R3BX for my eldery mom's assisted living apartment. It is hooked only to a simple cable box from Spectrum. I have programmed the Spectrum universal remote with many different codes. One of the codes makes the Spectrum remote work perfectly on both the box and the tv. This is great, because more than one simple remote is too confusing for mom. But, weirdly, every day, the TV must be turned on once with the Roku remote before the Spectrum remote will control the on/off function. Turn the TV on once with the Roku remote, and then it will turn on and off all day with the Spectrum remote. But the next day, same thing. I messed with the power savier and bandwith saver and sleep timer and eventually, it worked well for a few days. Now I can't seem to make it work again. Any ideas?503Views0likes12CommentsAuto Brightness Not Working when Powering On
Hello. Lately (possibly since the last software update on 1/13), My TV (Roku Pro Series 65") goes to full brightness when powered on. Auto Brightness doesn't engage. The only fix that works for me is to perform a System Restart. Once I do the restart, auto brightness kicks in and everything is normal. By default, I always keep Auto Brightness on. This has only been an issue recently. I've had the TV since December 2024. This issue is occuring every time I power the TV off, then on again. Current software version is 14.1.4, Build 7709.Solved1.2KViews1like41CommentsPairing Roku Remote turns off the IR signal - Model G851X (vs EARC issue)
I have found, through a LONG process, that on the Roku TV model G851X there is a serious issue. It comes with the Roku Voice Remote Pro. When I first installed the new TV (replacement for troubleshooting eARC issue) it started using the Roku Voice Remote Pro immediately without the pairing so I continued to complete the setup. I did not pair the remote at this time. In order to use my soundbar I had to use the Optical interface. I thought, why not give the new remote and TV a try with learning the IR code from the remote since eARC had obviously not been fixed yet. I then put my sound bar in learning mode (volume up, volume down, mute) and low and behold it worked! I could then control my volume on the soundbar with the remote (using the Optical interface). Now this went on for about a month and then I decided to actually pair the remote (so I could see the battery indicator). As soon as I paired the remote to this TV the programing of the remote TURNED OFF THE IR INTERFACE! If you do a factory reset on the voice remote pro and point your camera at the IR interface while pushing the volume up button you can see the IR signal (purple light picked up by your cell phones camera). As soon as you pair it they turn off the IR signal (once again verified by pointing my phone camera at the interface). Now that "might" make sense IF you could actually control stuff via eARC, however when using the Optical interface it makes NO sense to turn it off. They need to either leave the IR interface on ALL THE TIME or have an option to turn it on or off. I ended up grabbing another Roku remote that worked with the TV (from an Insignia) and then used it's IR to program the soundbar.375Views0likes4CommentsUsing Roku Express on Roku TV in Store Mode
Problem to Fix: My TCL Roku TV has terrible HDR imaging. No amount of adjustments fixes it. HDR shows range from dark to very dark. SDR looks very good so I want to keep all shows in that mode. Despite what the internet claims, there are no secret menus that shut off HDR on my TV. I've seen them all. I need a fixed 1080P mode or a 4K with HDR turned off, if possible. ( I typically go to a Fire Stick for HDR shows because I can turn HDR off.) The RF remote on the Roku Stick will not work since it also works in IR mode a little and the TCL TV won't know it needs to ignore the remote. Possible Remedy: Reset TV in Store Mode and plug Roku Express 4K in HDMI 1. Set up as 1080P if I can't find a Turn HDR Off selection on the settings. Questions and possible problems: (I have no experience with Store mode and do not want to factory reset without a good chance the problem can be fixed) Resetting in Store Mode will remove the internet and the main ROKU TV menu. I should be able to tell the TV to start using HDMI 1, the ROKU Express 4K. What I don't know is how the TV will work in Store Mode. * Will HDMI-CEC still work so my Hi Fi sound still connects? * When I press the Home Button on the Express remote, will the TV go to the TCL menu or the Express Menu? * When in HDMI 1 / Express 4K, will the cursor movements and the select key still be moving on the TCL TV since both are ROKU devices? My overall goal is to never see the main screen and only operate the Express. ---------------------------------------- I despise HDR as the picture is very fussy. Some 'artists' make their shows too dark to see. The best HDR shows are too dark to watch comfortably. SDR may be 'old' but it always works well. The oddly bright colors in HDR that works aren't that special too me. If The Store Mode fix won't work correctly, then I will need a new TV with good HDR. My research shows I need a QLED as OLED may disappoint. There are only a few bright enough QLED sets - 1000 nits reliably is the minimum to see most shows without excessive darkness once in a while. Thanks.Solved497Views0likes2CommentsNo Bluetooth headphone option for TCL Roku TV.
I have the same problem with my Roku TV. There’s an icon showing a group of audio outputs including headphones, but in the menu there is no headphone option, even though there IS a wireless speaker option, which means to me that it is bluetooth capable.Solved26KViews2likes10CommentsSetting up new Roku TV. How do you use Live TV input "Antenna & Cable"?
Bought a Roku TV for my mother-in-law. When setting up for live tv there are 3 options (see below). I was hooking up a cable TV set top box, so I selected Cable. I saw the 3rd selection, "Antenna & Cable". I would like to hook up both an antenna and a cable set top box (until we eliminate cable". Both the antenna and cable box use RG6 coax. Can someone explain if this setting will work for me?Solved1.3KViews0likes1CommentHow to turn off HDR on Roku Select Series Smart TV?
I read the thread about HDR10+ on Roku TVs. I have the 43" and 55" Select Series TVs (purchased in Dec. 2024), and no matter what expert settings and combinations I try, HDR10+ on both TVs looks washed out and the colors dim, especially on Apple TV+ shows. The "secret menu" does not have a turn-off or disable HDR setting. Please provide a solution that works. I've tried every manner of expert settings adjustments. Also, there's no way to revert to SDR for HDR10+ programming. The 3 default HDR10+ options aren't sufficient. Thank you.Solved1.2KViews0likes4CommentsRoku Mobile App restrict other devices

This worthless Roku Tv has forced a downgrade post purchase with motion or action smoothing that cant be turned off. It will be the last Roku Tv I ever buy or Roku device I ever own and the negative publicity I will be giving will be constantly all day every day until I die. How do you turn this garbage off if there is no advanced picture settings or any picture settings besides brightness. What a bunch of junk and who the $#@* would force this on people. Its like they want to go out of business.578Views0likes1Comment
