Shows on Roku Channel Suddenly go Black

I've been experiencing a really odd problem. If I'm watching shows OTA, via my digital antenna, then switch to a Roku streamed Channel, the show on the Roku Channel will within 30 seconds, suddenly go dark, then I'll see a spinning figure, and the channel seems to completely disconnect! However, if I go to a Roku Channel, from my OTA channel, then go to another Roku Channel, no shut down occurs, so it's only when I go directly to a Roku Channel from an OTA channel! This is pretty crazy, as there's no reason for this to occur, and it's quite an inconvenience, what's going on?

Roku Channel LiveTV Channels List Print

(Guide updated September 27, 2025) Note: There appears to be an error/bug of two channels with same number of 501 being available this month. To swap between them, just select ch.500 or ch.502 and then select the desired ch.501 you want. (hopefully Roku will address this error). Below is a printable/viewable guide for the Roku Channel linear Live TV lineup with their assigned numbers. Will generally try to do a monthly update unless I notice significant changes have been made to the lineup. I have posted these reference files to an encrypted storage site (mega.nz). You can review and download the most recent pdf (print), and source Libre Office .ods (spreadsheet) files there. Feel free to edit and do whatever else you want with the files. Let me know if you run into any issues. https://mega.nz/folder/7HZXyJxa#YqdXb_ApQHIjfvzMY4mHeQ <--Download files. If your Roku Live TV guide is missing the channel numbers (ie. only showing channel icons), launch the Live TV guide, navigate to the left over to where the channel icons are, and press the asterisk (*) button on Roku remote. Select 'Sort Channel List', then select 'By Channel number'. Click on image to enlarge. (sample page from guide).

Crunchyroll on Roku Channel "My Dress-Up Darling S2 Ep11" No English subtitles

Hi! I just tried watching My dress-up darling Season 2 Ep 11 on the crunchyroll x roku channel app on my roku tv and english subtitles were not an option (though a few other languages were available). The episode officially released earlier today with english subtitles. Can someone help me with this? Thank you!

Closed Captions Not Working After Commercial Breaks

On the Roku Channel app on a TCL FireTV, Model # TCL_43S450F; Closed captions are not working after every commercial break. System restart/update have no effect. In addition, the options normally visible when the OK/Select button is pushed (Captions and Audio track, Watch from beginning, and Next) are missing after these breaks. Captions and the missing options can only be restored by watching playback without captions for a few seconds, then selecting the Back button, then Resume. If back button is pressed too quickly after a commercial break ends, a new commercial will play and captions will still be missing. This appears to be a Roku glitch, not a TV problem.

DOC (2001 Series) seasons 4&5 again

This morning (10/5/25) Doc seasons 4 & 5 are available again! I’ve been scratching my head over this issue with this particular show for almost a year now. The episodes I’ve tested appear to be accurate and play without problem. Let’s hope they don’t get snatched away again! Maybe this should be a separate entry, but I’ve found that after season 3 episode 18, the episodes are mislabeled. SPOLER ALERT! Nate’s baby Matthew suddenly appears without a birth episode or anything. I wouldn’t have noticed except none of the remaining episodes are correct either. And when availability ended with Season 3, it was upsetting. Does anyone have a solution or workaround for this?

    Roku shows not playing

I see this seems to be a common problem for years. I have done all the removing, reloading, restarting suggestions and still nothing. I click on a series, press play episode and then nothing. I’m playing it off my Roku TV. Hope this can get fixed soon. Not exactly a selling feature for access if it never works. :(

    Roku app will not load

Have a Roku 3820RW stick in the TV's HDMI2. Cannot get the Roku app to load. It's only the Roku app. It starts then goes back to the home screen. This happens whether I use the Roku icon on the home screen or try from a previously watched show. Ran into a dead end with that ChatBot. Also, I can sign into Roku from our desktop and get Roku fine. I'm running out of ideas

Closed captions present only on first episode of Great British Pottery Throw Down Series 6

I began watching this series on my Roku Chanel on my Roku device and the closed captions only show up on the first episode of Series 6. I’m at a loss because I cannot watch without them. Is this permanent or a temporary issue?

    Roku Channel Closed Caption issue

When I am watching the RokuChannel (Version 13.10 Build 5) on my 482X - Roku Ultra (Version 14.6) the closed captions are not working on a number of shows. I've viewed the same shows on the web player and the app on multiple other devices, and the captions work fine. Looking at the "Captions & Audio Track" menu, it says the captioning track is "Not available" as you can see below. In this case the "The Great American Baking show S3E1" is what's being watched. Morimoto's Sushi Master Season 2 doesn't work... Season 1 does. The Great American Baking Show works for S1 and S2, S3 does not. Again, these work on the web and the phone app- it's ONLY a problem on the app directly on the roku. I've done everything I can think of, including completely factory resetting the Roku and setting it up from scratch- it continues to say there is no captioning track. Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this? It sure feels like the format changed and the app just doesn't know how to reproduce the more current format... Thanks!

    Missing shows on Roku

Missing shows, trouble connecting. Cleared cache, made sure updates were done, restarted tv, unplugged and restarted tv. All other apps are fine, Roku is the only issue. Down detector days issues but nothing in the news. It's been hours.
