Did you checkthe configuration of YOUR WIFI router to make sure that there are no Parental Controls or Time of Day triggered functions running? Please. Yes or no. Not who you called. Did YOU check it? Re: Roku may add pause ads to ALL inputs! Upon calm and careful consideration, I have determined the following: The very FIRST TIME that any HDMI stream receives an advertisement from ROKU, that will be the very LAST TIME that ROKU has access to, receives data from or interacts with my TV set in any way. Period. End of discussion. No further commentary need be made, nor apply. Re: TCL Roku TV freezing 15 seconds after startup (not a startup loop situation)... While its very comforting that you "have passed your concerns along". Can you point to anywhere in this forum where you make the next entry, which starts "The technical staff says ........" followed by a concrete answer, procedure or remedy? Re: Hisense Roku TV won't connect to my Dish Network Let me answer this very tentatively, in complete ignorance of the equipment from DISH. If it is connecting using the coax connection, I am assuming it is decoding and routing the channels to your set. If this is using the old-fashioned Channel 3 or Channel 4 interconnection setup, then what you need to do is: Hook the DISH converter up to your set, then do a channel scan. During the dialog with the channel scan, the set will ask you whether you need to have channel 3 or 4 available for external equipment connections. Answer this YES, and then proceed. As I said, I am in complete ignorance of the actual equiment, but this is the non-obvious set of actions that might be blocking your progress. If I'm completely off-base, I apologize in advance. Re: Roku pop up menu guide keeps appearing on screen They don't actually answer, except to ask for serial numbers and model numbers. Then they go off and never actually provide you with anything useful. Re: Roku pop up menu guide keeps appearing on screen What they'll do is to ask you for your serial number and model number, and say they'll look into it. Then you will never hear back from them in any fashion, and no fix will be offered or provided to you. Re: Recommendations: good USB drive models for live pause on TCL 55s517 I'm afraid I must disagree with you a bit on the selection of USB drives for the PAUSE feature. There are two issues that come into play. First is the performance of the internal controller of the USB stick. Some USB sticks seem to work poorly, or not at all with the particular programming of the Roku OS for the pause feature. It has been my own experience that PNY works OK and some of the cheaper brands, like Lexar as well. As with most things related to the Roku TV set, Your Own Mileage May Vary. The other issue has to do with wear-out of the memory cells within the USB stick. The modern USB memory stick is not designed for unlimited erase/record cycles. If one does the math, it is anticipatable that one will start seeing wear-out related failures within about a year of usage, given 6 - 12 hours of TV operation per day. I just replaced a stick a couple of weeks ago that had started exhibiting some unreliable behaviors a few weeks prior, and then just failed to operate in the Roku TV set. A deep test cycle revealed numerous worn out memory cells at that time. It was trashed. I would personally not expect a USB stick which is being used in the PAUSE application of a Roku TV set to last more than about a year. Re: Live tv pause not working Since you've already unplugged, reset, etc, there is one more thing to try, which may or may not be a solution. I notice that the antenna scannning routine appears to have changed in the new release 10. I would try rescanning the antenna channels, then, at the end of the scanning process, it asks if you want to activate Live TV pause. Follow the instructions there, with the new USB drive installed. I don't know that this will help, but, with as flakey as the Roku code seems to be, this is worth at least a try before you give up completely. Re: How to fix Roku TCL TV that's stuck on recovery mode screen TCL and or roku should be ashamed of themselves for this is it really is some QA issue (software or bad “memory chips / flash memory” ). I think you are very close to the truth. Watching all of the problems that are occurring, it has been my opinion that what we are seeing is an expression of bad software, overusing flash memory, combined with cheap flash memory which has very limited endurance ratings. Re: channel guide stopped working tclisjunk wrote: I post my info but never heard back from Danny-R or Roku ? That's actually not surprising. While the Roku personnel will appear from time to time and demand technical details from you about your set, they NEVER actually provide any technical information or solutions to the issues which are under their purview. I will say it again. The Roku personnel provide no useful information on correcting the technical issues under their purview. Except for "Contact the manufacturer", or, repeating some reset procedures which were already posted by users, they actually provide nothing of value to this forum.
