understanding how to accomplish hotel connect

I have been trying to accomplish the hotel connection and I believe it's step number four with authenticating where it says to accomplish that step on your laptop, but it's unclear to me from how that step is written what to do or what I'm trying to find – it says that you are to go to a browser etc. and I was in the hotel and it was seeing the previous steps as far as the hotels Wi-Fi and I didn't understand when it says go to a browser on my iPhone I opened up Safari on my iPhone and didn't know what I was supposed to do… Can somebody please in language that is step-by-step for a third grader tell me how to accomplish that last step of authenticating the connection when I'm at a hotel to complete the Roku connection to the hotel… As I said it did the previous steps where it found a hotel's Wi-Fi but I couldn't accomplish or understand how to accomplish the last step… Also will I need to do that if I take my Roku to someone else's house or just a hotel?

Can you please provide more information about the issue you are experiencing? Is the Roku device already activated?

If you are trying to connect to a hotel wireless network, you will most likely be needing to use the Hotel & Dorm Connect feature on your device. Please be aware that this feature requires you to have already activated your Roku device.

Thank you Danny for responding, I've been trying to do this verbally I really would appreciate if there was a way I can get a call from someone because it's very hard for me to do this in a written form and to understand the instructions and to explain it but simply put the last step of the hotel connect which is authenticating the connection is just glossed over and says the last step you'll need to do on your computer or smart phone, and it just says to open up a browser on computer or smart phone… Well I accomplished every step up to that point where I found the hotel's Wi-Fi and I took by the way the Roku device that I have at home and it is in fine working order and this is what I took to the hotel and plugged it into the HDMI of the TV there to do this, and it isn't clear to me it wasn't clear when I try to do that last step what the heck I'm supposed to be doing when it says to just open up a browser on my smart phone… So I just opened up Safari on my smart phone after I had done all the other steps but I didn't know what to do after I opened up Safari… It just was terribly unclear what to do next to authenticate the connection, I had accomplished all the first three steps up to that point

After the connection is initiated, the remaining steps will appear on the television screen. Complete these steps on your computer or smartphone."

This is the step I got hung up on and it just wasn't clear what to do after I open up that browser on my smart phone… And it said to put some code in but it didn't say where to get this code… Every step up to that point I had been successful with and it was this authenticate the connection which was not, and I even found a hotel Wi-Fi and was having the Roku finding it and all of that was successful it was just this last bit about having to say to Roku that I was in a hotel or a dorm and then to open up this browser and it didn't say what to do

Try the "I'm at home option".  I believe that not all hotels require the added steps that the hotel/dorm option gives you.

When I tried the I'm at home option it was as if I knew I wasn't and switched me back… I also want to mention that I use the remote usually with my Roku rather than the Roku app on my smart phone, when it's telling me to go to that fourth step and open a browser is it thinking that I don't have a remote or is there some other thing going on? I still haven't accomplished this and I want to be able to, it seems as though whoever wrote those instructions thinks that that fourth step is the easiest because they don't go into any detail… Meanwhile accomplishing steps 1 to 3A was able to have both my phone find a hotel Wi-Fi as well as the Roku but that step for to be able to authenticate it or whatever it is and go forward is completely not clear to me what it's asking for and if it wants me to open a smart phone browser then the question is why and what am I going to on that browser if I've already gotten the hotel Wi-Fi code entered and the remote and the Roku is showing the hotel Wi-Fi as well as the phone… Help please?

Please see my latest reply below as far as additional information and please help me to understand how to resolve this or what it's asking for or why or if it's even necessary? Otherwise I don't know how to take my Roku with me out of the house and plug it in anywhere… I thought I could just plug the HDMI into the television and use my remote… Am I not supposed to use my remote? Please see below my latest post reply and see if that helps at all to help me get a solution?
