My new ROKU Premiere recognizes my 2.4G wifi but not the 5G that my other devices are on.
And then it won't connect to the 2.4 anyway.
Most models sold under the name Premier have not had 5GHz. (I also noticed that Roku doesn't have a premier on their website at this time so I'm using this page.)
On the 2.4Ghz, make sure your router is set to b/g/n. Some routers are set to g/n only by default. Also if no other devices are on 2.4GHz, it's worth double-checking that passphrase on 2.4GHz is the same as the 5Ghz.

As mentioned, the most recent versions of the Premiere are 2.4 GHz only. They don't have a 5 GHz radio at all. Only the original Premiere models 4620/4630 had dual band radios. And @Strega offered good advice on the 2.4 GHz settings for your router. If your ISP has you locked out of those settings (many do on rented boxes) you'll have to contact them to make the changes.
... And one further consideration. Within the 2.4 GHz band, Rokus support channels 1-11 as are used in North America. If your router supports 2.4 GHz channels outside this range make sure your router is set to use a channel in this range and that your router isn't using an auto setting that could select channels outside this range.
Oh bless your hearts! I switched my wifi router to b/g/n and boom!
