Won't show internet network or connect

This all worked fine yesterday. It is not my internet that is the issue I just spent 40 minutes with a lady on Spectrum. I have two roku expresses. One i have had for two years and never a single issue. One that is brand new that I set up yesterday. It will not even find the network after working for a day and a half. All.of my other devices are working, including a roku tv.

Re: Won't show internet network or connect

Does it show any networks?  It's possible it's just bad.  It may be easier to just return it where you got it.

One other thing, if you're using the TV's USB port and not the supplied power adapter, use the supplied power adapter.

Re: Won't show internet network or connect

You didn't mention which Roku models and model numbers you have.  You can check each via Settings > System > About

Roku Express/Express+ (not the relatively new Express 4K) and Premiere/Premiere+ are lower end units with single band Wi-Fi radios that only support the 2.4 GHz band. They, and many other devices of all sorts that are 2.4 GHz only, can't even see the 5 GHz band, !et alone connect to it. If you have one of these models and a dual band router with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, be sure the router's 2.4 GHz band is turned on.

Within the 2.4 GHz band, be sure your router is set to use channels in the 1 through 11 range as are used in North America. Some other parts of the world also support channels 12 & 13, but Rokus can't even see these channels.

If your router is supplied by your internet provider, there have been reports lately of updates to the router shutting off the router's 2,4 GHz band. Users have had to contact their provider to get 2.4 GHz turned back on or in some cases have the router replaced with a new one.

Re: Won't show internet network or connect

It does show one network that is not mine. The roku tv shows 5 or 6 including mine. What I don't understand is that it all worked fine for a day and a half and just lit of nowhere stopped.

OK, it's a Roku TV - that's an important distinction.  All Roku TV's support both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

I don't know if anyone knows why some Rokus occasionally lose their net connections.  Personally I believe it has to do with the stability of the internet connection from your provider.

Here's what has worked for me to re-establish my net connection. I usually have to do this on my most used Roku, a Streaming Stick+, several times a month.

  • Restart your router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Restart the Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart (for Roku TV it's Settings > System > Power > System restart). Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Find and connect to your network via Settings> Network > Set up connection

If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.
