I have an Asus GT-BE98 Pro router, and though I don't have any issues connecting to 5G, the Wifi6 channel doesn't even appear as an option. I set one of my two Wifi7 channels to 6, with WPA3, and also tried connecting as a private network, to see if it made a difference.
Is the Walmart variant of the Ultra missing the WiFi6 option? I'm not desperate for it, but since it's supposed to have the option I thought I'd take advantage of it.
Previous versions of the Walmart Ultra differed from the OEM version, which accounts for the massive difference in price.
Edit: I have the Ultra 2024, bought yesterday.
Thanks
As long as the model number is 4850, you should have wifi6 capability (whether bought at Walmart or elsewhere).
The 4850 can take advantage of the ax/wpa3 protocols. (wifi6). They still cannot use the 6ghz band.(wifi6e).
All previous model numbers of the Roku Ultra have wifi5 capability.
Generally, the Walmart-exclusive Ultra models will be "Ultra LT" models. (these have lesser features).
You can see your model number from the box or from Settings/System/About.
Hi @heymikebrown,
Thanks for the inquiry, and welcome to the Roku Community!
Please be aware that the new Roku Ultra supports Wi-Fi 6, which has been upgraded to 2.4 and 5 GHz. Wi-Fi 6 isn't capable of 6GHz. The term "Wi-Fi 6e" actually refers to 6 GHz support; the "e" indicates that it is 6 GHz.
We hope you'll find this information useful. Please keep us posted if there's anything else we can do to assist you.
Best regards,
John
