I have used this roku tv before on this same wifi, but suddenly when i try to connect the DIRECT-roku wifi you need to use to connect to the wifi won't show up on any of my roommates phones or laptops. It's been days and at this point this was just a waste of money. I've seen other people have this problem but no working solutions. Anybody have any?
Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but the WiFi-Direct ROKU network that shows is only for connection of the remote to the Roku. You would connect the Roku to whatever network the dorm has.
You'll want to enable Dorm and Hotel mode to connect to a system that normally requires Web page acknowledgment.

@DBDukes @I click my wifi and it takes me to a pop up that says Where are you and you choose either hotel/college dorm or i am at home. Once i click on hotel or college dorm, it takes me to a screen where i must connect to the tvs direct-roku wifi to log in to my schools wifi. However, while this worked for about a week, now it's been days where we haven't been able to connect and use the tv because that DIRECT-roku will not show up in settings. we've tried factory resetting, system resetting, disabling network ping, re-enabling network ping. no phone or laptop will pick it up.
The Hotel/Dorm setup is a special case where WiFi-direct is used for something other than remote control communication. It allows you to connect the browser on a laptop or mobile device through the Roku to the hotel/dorm login page in order to log the Roku connection into the hotel/dorm login page.
If Wifi Direct address not being shown.

Hi @makaiguy ! I actually saw this before posting about it. I'm not sure if it's because there was an update after that post, but screen mirroring is not an option that comes up in the settings so i am unable to do this. Any other ideas?
You dont see Settings/System/Screen mirroring ?
Do you see Settings/System/Advanced system settings/Device connect ?
Do you have an ONN Roku TV?
If so, there is a bug impacting ONN Roku TV's such that the Screen mirroring settings are missing/removed/deleted (this may include all WiFi Direct-based functionality, including Hotel & Dorm connect and Voice remote pairing).
You would not be able to disable Screen mirroring if the setting wasnt available - however, from all reports the Miracast functionality itself is missing (which may include the underlying WiFi Direct functionality, and would also prevent Voice remotes from working in WiFi Direct mode, and also prevent the WiFi Direct AP from showing up).
You need to report this to Roku:

I have a TCL Roku TV about 2 years old, running Roku ver 10.0.0 build 4209. For me Settings -> System -> Screen Mirroring -> Screen Mirroring Mode -> Never Allow is exactly where that post says it should be. (It's in the same place on my Roku devices as well.)
Don't know what to suggest other than making sure you're checking via the Roku TV menu, not the phone.
@StreamerUser Hi! Yes I do have an onn Roku. I will definitely try to get in contact with them. Thank you so much.
Its a nasty bug/loss of functionality only occurring with/happening to ONN Roku TVs with RokuOS 10.0.0-4209, and seems to happen at some point after updating, but not immediately.
Roku hasnt taken it seriously enough, so you and other ONN Roku TV users need to push them and ONN on it (contact ONN support as well):
