Re: Advanced Wireless Receiver WR001

Jump to solution

The Roku Streaming Sticks use the LRWR proprietary cable.  Just keep in mind that the 3820 (WR002) is not compatible with devices using the WR001 cable (3810).

You can still find the 3810 on Amazon or Ebay if really want to repair/replace the Stick, but some caution should be exercised in that some unscrupulous customers buy these these devices, swap out the cables, and then return the device to these unsuspecting suppliers.

I just prefer to use the Roku Streaming players (like the Express 4k+) that does not use this proprietary cable and can be swapped out with any micro-usb cable. (since the receiver is in the device, not the cable like the Streaming Sticks).  The Ultra cables can also be easily replaced but since uses a transformer type, may not just have lying around the house to easily swap out.

The ability to discontinue a necessary power supply, or requiring a direct replacement from Roku is a no-go for me and a contributing reason why I do not like the Streaming Stick models.
