My internet went down this evening so I'm having to use my phone as a hotspot to watch the TV. Was watching YouTube with no issues but if I try to watch Netflix or BBC iPlayer it tells me it has connection issues. If I play something it buffers then plays 3 secs then buffers again.
I switched back to YouTube and it plays 4k video without even blinking. I'm a bit at a loss as to what could cause this.
Tv is Hisense R50B7120UK
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Just in case the phone is a pixel 6 pro running Android 12.
Thanks for the post.
While we don't typically recommend using mobile hotspot connections for streaming, I'd like to gather a few more details here to see what may be causing the issue. Are you experiencing the same issue with other channels? Is this issue only happening when you're connected to your mobile hotspot?
With more detailed information, we will be able to assist you further.
Thanks,
Danny
Hi,
When connected to my broadband all channels work fine. My broadband is hugely unreliable so I have an unlimited data plan I use when it goes down. I just connected to my hot spot and the following channels tell me I have poor connection speeds and will either not load the video or be stuck with constant buffering.
Disney+
Apple TV
BBC iPlayer
Itv hub
All 4
Roku channel
Amazon prime will play videos but at super low quality with occasional buffering.
If I use the check connection tool in settings it tells me I have poor download speeds of less than 1mbps. If I test on the phone or a tablet connected to the hotspot it shows 125-130 Mbps.
On YouTube I can watch a video 2160p HDR and it plays instantly with zero buffering.
I tried connecting an old Apple TV to my hotspot and all those services worked fine.
If you need any more info please lete know.
