So my Roku kept having to buffer as my son watched TV. I tried restarting router. Once I did this the Roku would not connect back to internet. Signal strength is excellent. And my other Roku device in bedroom is working just fine. I have restarted Roku, factory reset. Nothing works, and I know my pw is right because my other Roku device is working just fine. Do I just need a new Roku?
What models and model numbers are the working and non-working Rokus? Settings > System > About on each will give you this information.
Just as a note, factory reset should be last resort. Try everything else first.
To your issue, it may be helpful to know the model numbers of the two Roku devices.
You see, some Roku devices only operate on 2.4 GHz band, and some operate on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. Also, some ISPs (Xfinity is just one that does this) disable or modify the 2.4 GHz settings which can prevent those Roku devices from connecting. Xfinity will often disable 2.4 GHz, or change the settings from b/g/n to g/n, which keep Roku from connecting on that band.
So, what are the model numbers involved? Settings > System > About

This happens to me at least twice a week. I have Xfinity. Every time this I happens I have to go to my account on xfinity and change my wifi password. Then type the new one in on the Roku and it works again. I’m ready to go crazy over this. I hope it works for you also
