A few questions to clarify things. This thread talks about a "Roku Premium." There isn't a device model by that name, but there is a "Roku Premiere," so I'm going to assume we're actually talking about the Roku Premiere.
If that's correct, we're talking about connection issues with the Roku Premiere. However, it's not clear if we're talking about model 4620 (which supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks), or model 3920 (2.4 GHz only). We could also be talking about the Premiere+ (model 4630, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz), or model 3921 (2.4 GHz only).
Here's why that matters. Your home network supports:
- 2.4 GHz only
- 5 GHz only
- Both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Now, if it supports both, but the 2.4 GHz stopped working for some reason, and you have the 3920 or 3921, you would get exactly the symptoms you describe.
If you control the network, then this is less likely, unless there's a new issue that's developed with your router. If your ISP controls your wireless router settings, then they could have changed to 5 GHz only. Note that this has happened in the past, though it's not what I'd consider extremely common.
With that bit of info, we need to find out if your device is 2.4 GHz only, and if your wireless network is transmitting on 2.4 GHz.
Next, if it is, there are issues that could interfere with that connection. If the channel your 2.4 GHz network is using is extremely crowded -- this includes other networks using the same channel, not just yours -- then it could cause issues. Roku seems more susceptical to 2.4 GHz issues more than other devices, to me at least.
So, what model device do you have? And what band and channel is your wireless network using?
