Recently I have been experiencing problem with my Roku Premier as it not able to identify the wireless network and connect. I have a vizio smart tv and it has inbuilt Smartcast and I also have a Xfinity Flex device form comcast. Now these 2 are connected to the same wireless network with excellent connection. I think there is something wrong with the Roku device. I restarted the router , roku device, tried everything mentioned on roku support. Nothing works.
I hope someone can answer because I have the exact same problem. Smartcast Vizio TV w/ excellent connect to the network but Roku suddenly can't find the connection, even though it worked fine the last time I used it. I even changed the HDMI cable.
HELP

I am having the same issue. Roku premier is not identifying my phone hotspot as a wireless network. I can connect other devices to my hotspot without any problem, but when I scan wireless networks on my Roku it does not pick up my Iphone's hotspot. Very disappointing
The Premiere will only connect to 2.4GHz and channels 1 to 11. If your phone's hotspot is 5GHz it won't see it.
Is there a software upgrade so it can work off a 5GHz hotspot?
No; not possible.
2.4 and 5 GHz are two completely separate radio bands. That requires a radio for each band, or a dual band radio. There's no way to update any Roku device to add either.
