Roku not showing hotel prompt

I have a Roku streaming stick+ 3810X V. 10.0.0 build 4109-50. It is not a matter of a secondary device not being able to work through the process fast enough, it is a matter of the forum name, the hotel prompt not showing at all. Help?

Yes it is registered. Yes it works at home yes it is updated as of today, yes it has worked in the past at hotels; one only yesterday;  although I have never been at this particular hotel.

Is it possible that the hotel prompt isn’t triggered if there is some connection even if I can’t browse normally. I have tried resetting the internet/network settings and starting that from scratch but nothing.

Any suggestions?

Re: Roku not showing hotel prompt

@Edk, does the hotel use no Wi-Fi password but then have you register your device via some web page?  I believe the hotel prompt isn't displayed if there's no Wi-Fi password.  See if the hotel has a help desk that can register your Roku device for you.

Re: Roku not showing hotel prompt

Every hotel I've ever been in did not have a password to connect to the WiFi. The access point is open, but registration on a web page is required to actually get to the Internet. My guess is that this particular hotel has limited Internet access prior to registering, which is making the Roku think the hotel prompt in not required. Perhaps DNS access is open, or some other non-web protocol. I can't think of any way to trigger the hotel prompt under conditions like that.

Re: Roku not showing hotel prompt

Hi there

The WiFi connects on phones, tablets, and laptops, but immediately a captive portal page comes up to enter the room number and last name of the person who booked the room.

There is no password field on that page although I suppose last name field could have really been a password but it was renamed to last name. Only after that am I able to browse the internet normally.
