Roku Will or will not work

Roku will not work on TV downstairs.  It works on one upstairs.  BUT,

IF I BRING THAT TV DOWNSTAIRS, IT WILL NOT WORK EITHER. ??? All set up info is same for both TV’s.

Any ideas

What's the Roku model number? Settings > System > About

Not all Roku devices have the same network capabilities, so knowing which device we're talking about may help narrow down the cause, and find a fix.

Re: Roku Will or will not work

@Willedog

The 3920 is a Roku Premiere that operates on 2.4 GHz b/g/n only.

Comcast/Xfinity is notorious for changing the 2.4 GHz settings to g/n, which will stop a single band Roku from working. They're not the only ISP to do this, but they are one of them.

The solution is to either:

  1. Get a Roku that supports dual band, or
  2. Change your settings back to b/g/n

The second one is cheaper. The first may be easier.

On your Xfinity Gateway may be instruction on how to access the settings. Possibly https://10.1.0.1/ or something similar. You can find instructions online about how to do it. This is only one instruction set: https://routerloginlist.com/xfinity-router-login/

Here's another similar from Comcast: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/view-change-wifi-password

Look for the 2.4 GHz settings and change back to b/g/n
