Not at all. Many of the older Roku devices and models still work just fine and as intended. However, when problems arise, just have to narrow down whether it is a network issue, a device issue, or even an age of device issue.
Many of the streaming services are also adding new capabilities to their channels, so if people are trying to get the latest and greatest, I certainly wouldn't recommend getting the older, lower end models that Roku offers, like the standard Express models. For normal streaming, nothing wrong with the older Express models, though.
However, if you are choosing your first Roku, or replacing an older one, I think the newer Roku Express 4k+ plus is a much better decision and value for the money. (a little newer technology and better remote).
