Roku Express not streaming though no issues with internet.

We had our recent roku express for almost a year with no issues. We recently started having network / streaming issues only on the roku. We were able to stream successfully from the laptop / mobile device / ps5 but the roku kept freezing / popping messages on network connectivity issues. We tried resetting our modem and router and  that didn't resolve the issue.  We did a factory reset for the roku and that also didn't help. We figured the roku was faulty and bought a new one.

The new roku express worked better for about half a day and is now also displaying similar issues (but not as bad). It loads the apps very slowly and still freezes or pops slow network messages. At times it doesn't work at all. When checking internet download speed, we're getting intermittent results - first test will say speed is poor and a second test right after will pass successfully. At the same other devices will not have any network speed issues.

At this point we're really not sure where the issue is.

Re: Roku Express not streaming though no issues with internet.

@Moe8

Thanks for the post.

I would recommend checking out our Support page for troubleshooting issues here: What should I do if I cannot connect to my home network or the internet?

Please answer the following questions so we can get a better understanding of what you are seeing:

- Have you ensured your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the device to connect to? The Roku Express is only compatible with wireless b/g/n networks on the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
- Have you tried changing the wireless broadcast channel on the router to see if this will allow your device to connect?
- Have you tried moving the device closer to your router to see if you can get connected?
- How long have you been experiencing this problem?

If those things still aren't helping, feel free to provide us with the serial number of your Roku from Settings>System>About along with the answers to the above questions and I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny
