Roku 3 suddenly can't see ethernet connection on new ASUS Zen Wifi AX router

I recently replaced my ancient Airport router with a new ASUS Zen Wifi AX6600 Mesh System. Worked perfectly out of the box using the default settings for the router and node. I had my Roku 3 wired directly via ethernet during set up and it worked seamlessly at first and for about two months, but Roku suddenly dropped the wired connection last week and could not find it again even after resetting the connection on Roku and a hard restart. The Roku 3 does not see the ASUS network over wired ethernet anymore, and I had changed nothing to cause it. However I was easily able to set up a new wireless connection on Roku, enter the password and it works fine. I have a wired connection for speed and stability for 4K and it frustrates me that it no longer works. I want to know why and how to fix it. Can anyone help?

Older Roku can only use 2.4ghz WiFi on selected WiFi channels. Router config may have changed to turn off 2.4ghz or changed channel. Config router to use 2.4ghz and auto channel selection or channel below 11.

Thanks for the reply. WiFi is already set to 2.4ghz on auto-select channel which is using channel 4 currently. This has not changed since setup two months ago. I am not having a problem with the WiFi; it works fine. The problem is the ethernet wired connection, which suddenly quit.

I have plenty of bandwidth, paying for a gig, split among 6 or 7 active devices. The wireless connection is strong with the ASUS mesh system, yielding 80 down 150 feet away. So that's definitely not the problem.

I don’t know if it is the case for you, but I have seen corrosion on Ethernet port “fingers” on older devices (not just Roku) that will break network connections. On a Ubiquiti ER-Lite, I got my Ethernet ports back by spraying the port and board connections with a spray contact cleaner.

Try a different Ethernet cable, or cleaning the port. Also, the Roku 3 is due for age-related failures. If you want 4K support, the Roku 3 doesn’t have that anyway. A Roku Ultra is a good choice.

You are right, the Roku 3 is getting obsolete and bound to break down at some point. I'll try the port cleaning. Can't hurt. I'm happy to replace it but I'm hesitant to upgrade due to the current disagreements between Google/YouTube with Roku, and worry I wouldn't be able to install the YouTube app. Also, I see on these forums the Ultra has the same ethernet connection issue. Hoping Roku will address it via a software update.
