Roku 3 - connected to wireless (excellent) but will not connect to any channel
Problem just started (Roku 3 operated fine for over 3 years).
Roku settings show the device connected to wireless (strength excellent) but no channel will connect.
Have reset/restarted Roku 3 several times including after rebooting the wireless network which is working fine on other devices.
Have tried everything listed on the community and YouTube videos.
Are there other solutions?
As I did not find Roku 3 listed on the dropdown list of models - I assume my model is old?
Does this mean it is no longer supported?
Do devices wear out over time? If so - is there a way to test this?
TY!
As you've seen, the Roku 3 is not in the current product list. It is getting kinda old by electronic device standards, having been released in 2013 (model 4200) or 2015 (model 4230), but both are still on the Roku support list and are still receiving updates from Roku. But as these do not have some of the capabilities of later models, some channel providers may elect to drop support for them, or in some cases may run with fewer features.
It sounds like you've already tried everything I know to suggest. If your Roku 3 really has died and you replace it with a new model, any of the current line will run rings around the Roku 3 in terms of responsiveness. The Express 4K+ is a good value currently on sale from many retailers for about 30 USD.
I have the Roku 3 as well (2015 model 4230). and it just started having the same problem. It shows the Roku logo on the screen but with not go to home screen to show any channels. Did all the resets and remote checks and nothing worked. It looks like it is more than one persons problems.
Very helpful .. TY very much.
mmmm Wonder if Roku changed something important in an update that our Roku 3's can not handle?? My Roku stopped working a couple of times several days before it quit completely ...but I was also able to easily get it going again. I can get the home screen and select a channel it loads but will not connect - depending on the channel I get different error messages etc. Guess I will buy a new Roku ... it has served me very well for some time 🙂
