My Roku devices suddenly won’t connect.
Hi. I was wondering if someone could tell me what I can do. I have a Roku express on my living room TV and Roku TV in my bedroom. Both were working fine last night but then this morning neither one can connect to the Internet. My living room TV (which is a Samsung) can connect to the Internet just fine. I can access my apps through that but the Roku Express can’t connect to the Internet at all. My bedroom TV is all but useless since it is a Roku TV. I’ve tried restarting my router, restarting my Rokus, unplugging things, checking my ISP to make sure my Roku has access, even doing a factory restart on the Roku express in the living room. Nothing has worked. What has worked is connecting them to my iPhone hotspot so I don’t understand why I can’t connect through my Wi-Fi on my router?
Both of Mine are doing the same thing, neither device can find a network at all! I've reset everything but nothing is working, all computers and phones are connected to my home internet and working fine.
Neither of you mentioned what model Rokus you have.
Roku models Express, Express+, Premiere, and Premiere+ cannot connect to the 5 GHz wifi band, only to the 2.4 GHz band. If you have one of these models and a dual band router with both 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, be sure the router's 2.4 GHz band is turned on.
Other models and Roku TVs can connect to the 5 GHz band, but it has less range and doesn't penetrate walls etc, as well, so your units located further from the router may still need access to the 2.4 GHz band to connect and operate.
There have been a number of reports lately from people that have routers supplied by their Internet Provider in which an update caused their router's 2.4 GHz band to be disabled. Often the provider's front line support people are unaware of any of this. To fix it, the Internet Provider needs to re-enable the 2.4 GHz band, or some have reported they had to swap in a new router.
