Hello,
I recently bought a Roku Express 4K+. I also have two other Roku sticks and a Streambar.
By far this stick is the worst. When I turn my TV on, it sees no HDMI input so I get a "no connection" message. I have to press the home button on the remote to get it to recognize the connection and then the home screen comes up. I have NEVER had this happen with any other Roku device. I have a HDMI switch on the TV, but I know that isn't the problem because after switching them around I get the same result, so I know the switch is good. I've even plugged the stick directly into the HDMI port on the TV and get the same result.
Also, I can pause my viewing for ten minutes or so, and instead of the screen saver coming up, it kicks clear out of the connection and I get the same message....no connection.
I've lost track of how many times I've rebooted the stick. I know it's this stick because I run my Roku streambar on the same TV.
Also, this is the first Roku remote that I've had problems pairing with this TV(Samsung). It never does say that it's paired but yet it does work....but typically I have to press a button twice, to get it to respond.
Any ideas.......anyone else had this problem?? I think the stick is bad somehow.
Thanks.
It sounds like it has the auto power savings enabled:

The Home button actually "wakes up" a Roku device after if has entered a "sleep mode". (this is normal behavior).
On most of my TV's, if I simply press the Power button to turn it on, I will have a blank/np-signal screen. I also need to press the Home button to then wake up the Roku device.
If you enable 1-touch play on the Roku device (and enable CEC on your TV in its HDMI settings), then you can press any remote on the Roku remote (other than power and volume buttons) to simultaneously wake up the Roku and power on your TV. (Settings/System/Control other Devices/1-touch play [checkmark to enable] ).
The Streambars behave a little differently in that pressing the Power button may be able to turn on/off the TV as well as the Streambar on some TV's and setups. (behaves more like a RokuTV in this manner). However, for the most part, the Power and Volume buttons on the Roku remote are "TV Controls". (they only control the TV and have no effect on the Roku device itself.)

As for the issue you are having when paused. Try disabling the Power Saving feature and see if that helps. (Settings/System/Power/Auto Power Savings/20-min inactivity). When Power Savings is initiated, you should be able to press Home a couple of times to wake the device back up, but this setting had been reported to cause some HDMI issues on some TVs which then requires a reboot to resolve. Disabling it should help avoid this issue and have screensave activate.

Remote issue. The remote technically gets "paired" to the Roku device (connects to a private network broadcast by the device) and can also be "programmed" to the TV for the TV controls (power and volume). If having issues using with the device, try re-pairing it again. If having issues using with the TV, try going back into the Roku settings (Settings/Remotes and Devices/Remotes/Setup Remote for TV Control) and try programming it again for your TV.
Hello,
Disabling the power saving feature worked for me. Thank you Strega2 and AvsGunnar for responding and helping me out.
Thanks again,
