New Roku won’t find wireless networks

I have a brand new Roku and it asks what language and I click English. Then is shows finding wireless networks and will stay on that screen for hours. I’ve tried to unplug and reset both my wireless router and my Roku box. My wireless router is literally 2 feet away from the Roku box . Is there a phone help line of some sort?

Re: New Roku won’t find wireless networks

What Roku device do you have? Who is your ISP?

Some Roku devices only support 2.4 GHz, and some ISPs have been reported as disabling the 2.4 GHz radio on the modems/routers they control.

But it does sound strange that it's not seeing ANY access points. Even if it finds none it should bring you back to the screen with zero results. If you have a hotspot on your phone, try turning it on and seeing if it appears.

One other thing to check is the channel your wireless router/modem is using. In the 2.4 GHz band, the channels run from 1-14. However, Roku devices will only work on channels 1-11, so if yours is using 12, 13 or 14 it won't be visible.

And it's always possible your Roku is defective. I picked up an Insignia Roku TV from Best Buy once that went into a loop during setup. Had to return it to the store and exchange it. The replacement has been working fine for about 5 years now.

Re: New Roku won’t find wireless networks

I’m not sure how to switch any channel on my modem. I am through access communications. All I have is one button that shows <> on it. I’ve tried using a hotspot from my phone and nothing. I’m not sure what model it is as I had thrown out the box already as I figured it should work just as any new Roku box should.

Re: New Roku won’t find wireless networks

Well, it's always possible for a device to be defective right out of the box. I had an Insignia Roku TV that failed during initial setup, but its replacement is now over 5 years old and still works fine.

If it's not seeing your hotspot, then most likely it's defective. I don't know where you purchased it or what their return policy is, but it should be replaced.
