Network Traffic on Roku Express 4k+ when off

I have been getting network overage charges, and initially assumed it was mainly from winter streaming.  Checking with my router app showed constant data transmission on the Express 4K+.

I am getting constant traffic on a Roku Express 4K+ when TV is off.  I do not see that on the Ultra.  Traffic is in both directions.  The Express is powered by the USB adapter and in a separate outlet.   This TV does not have any USB ports.

It continues well past the 20 minute sleep.  I also checked and firmware is up to date, so don't think it is updating.

I've tried changing a few settings but no change.    Any ideas?

Are you returning to the Home Screen when you're finished streaming or just turning off the TV while the video is still going?

I did a test of going to the Home screen, and that did stop the traffic.   Thx.  🙂

It doesn't seem to be needed on the Ultra, but assume there is some signal on the HDMI that the older TV does not have.  I tried both HDMI ports on the older TV.

Now, just need to train the wife to return to home screen.  😉

Oh, it's needed on the Ultra as well. You've just been lucky stopping the stream before you turn the TV off. 🙂
