Need help with my Roku player (not connecting to WiFi)

Apparently, my mom's Roku Player we have in the living room has stopped working altogether on Wi-Fi networking. It's a Roku Express 3900X. Whenever I look for a connection it will say none found despite it being literally right next to both my router and my router modem. The other one my mom has in her room connects just fine and it's the exact same model. What can I do to fix this? I've tried using a different network (like my phone on mobile hotspot) and resetting the network connection from the advanced system settings and none of that worked my last resort which may not work is complete factory reset which I don't want to do right now.

It kind of sounds like a dead Roku.  You might want to try different (and maybe every) 2.4GHz Wi-Fi channel to see if it can see any of them.  I don't think you have much to lose with a factory reset, but I'd also be surprised if it accomplished anything.

Re: Need help with my Roku player (not connecting to WiFi)

Since the Roku devices are all the same model, swap the "bad" one with one of the others. Does the "bad" one suddenly find the network? Does the good one suddenly lose the network?

I suspect that's not the case, but it's worth ruling out. You only need to bring the devices, not the cords/power/etc., to make the swap. Rule that out before doing a factory reset. But, if no joy there, a factory reset may be your last resort. And, like @renojim, said, it might not make a difference.

@David24_1

Thanks for the post.

I would recommend checking out our Support page for troubleshooting issues here: What should I do if I cannot connect to my home network or the internet?

Please answer the following questions so we can get a better understanding of what you are seeing:

- Have you ensured your router is broadcasting a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network for the device to connect to? The Roku Express is only compatible with wireless b/g/n networks on the 2.4 GHz spectrum.
- Have you tried changing the wireless broadcast channel on the router to see if this will allow your device to connect?
- Have you tried moving the device closer to your router to see if you can get connected?
- How long have you been experiencing this problem?

If those things still aren't helping, feel free to send me a PM with your Roku account email address and the serial number of your Roku from Settings>System>About along with the answers to the above questions and I'll be able to assist you further from there.

Thanks,
Danny
