I got a new Roku Express 3 weeks ago. It stopped working yesterday and I’m being told I need to pay $70 for them to make it work. They said the need to update my software and firmware in my Roku account. My other Roku devices are still working fine.
Has anyone else been asked to pay to get their device fixed. I don’t understand why I need to pay to fix something so new. It seems like they are selling defective products and then charging extra to make it work.
THAT'S A SCAM!!!!!!!! You did not contact Roku.

I was on the Roku website when the chat came up.
What "roku website"? I see there are a few still out there that look like roku URLs except for a character change.
Copy and paste the exact URL here. I guarantee you that you did not chat with anyone at Roku.
I had typed in the website from memory so I probably typed something wrong. I thought it might have been a scam so I found a phone number for Roku directly and called. They also said it was a scam. Glad I didn’t pay them.
thanks for the quick reply’s.
When I get the error on my Roku it says for more help to go to go.roku.com/wireless
the website showing in my address bar is go-roku.com

Yep, scammers make their URL as close as they can to catch a mis-type. That is absolutely NOT Roku.
Yep. x.y.com is the x sub-domain of the y domain, but x-y.com is a totally independent and unrelated domain x-y that anyone could create.
