So ... i'm a techie by trade .. got an offer to upgrade to the new Roku Streaming Stick 4k+ and am very curious to try to find better details on how it offers better "long range wifi". Here's a quote directly from the product description "Roku Streaming Stick + is a powerful, portable 4K player that easily moves to any TV in the house. With 4x the wireless range and a voice remote with TV controls, it's built to entertain.
My question is .. how exactly is it providing 4x the wireless range and yet still doing 4K streaming? The newer wireless technologies that boast much faster speeds also have much smaller cells or "areas of coverage" so the notion you can do 4k but 4x the wireless range seems counter to that wifi standard reality.
To be clear, I'm not complaining about Roku or trying to figure out to get it to connect on wifi. Mine works perfectly fine. I'm trying to understand what technology you've implemented in the device to give "long range wifi" or "4x the wireless range" .. and is it still using 2.4Ghz wifi or 5Ghz? Since it still shows the 802.1ac standard, it wouldn't be on newer tech like the newest 802.1ax standard or "wifi6".
Hopefully there is an engineer here from Roku and or advanced tech to explain this one.
