Duplicate downloads on multiple Roku devices on same network

Here is my situation.

I’ve just moved into a new place with fiber internet. As such I’ve spent a bit on network gear. Now I have a lot of insight into what is happening across my network clients.

Tonight we decided to watch a show on The upstairs Roku. Basically neither Roku has any streaming data prior to this evening.  We watched the show and I decided I wanted to see how much bandwidth a show uses. Both Roku devices are linked to my single Roku ID.

Downstairs - 2.33 GB

Upstairs - 2.35 GB

So my question is… WHY?????

Why double my download? The downstairs should have stayed at nearly 0.

Do I need to separate them into separate Roku IDs to keep from having double downloads?

 Thanks for your suggestions.

Re: Duplicate downloads on multiple Roku devices on same network

I gotta be honest - I'd suspect an issue with that new gear.  Unless you started a stream on the other Roku and turned off the TV thinking the streaming stops when you do so, there's no way both Rokus would be acting that way if one is just sitting on the Home Screen.
