I’m sure this has been posted somewhere, but I’m a bit overwhelmed with the volume of information here.... I just need to know:
I keep getting error code: 003 while trying to set up my Roku Express. I can’t even get it to connect to the wireless network. I know it’s not the WiFi since everything else works just fine. I’ve been through every troubleshooting video/article/post I can find, and they all say the same thing. Will upgrading to a different Roku product fix this or not? If I can find something to work better without finding another brand, I will. But this is too much hassle if something else is easier.
Roku Express devices will only connect on 2.4 GHz band. Does your network broadcast that, or is it 5 GHz only. Many networks do both, but some seem to do 5 GHz only. If your Roku sees it but doesn't connect to it, then it is broadcasting 2.4 GHz (whether or not it's also 5 GHz doesn't matter for the Roku Express).
Also, if yours is utilizing 2.4 GHz, what channel? It's best to utilize channel 1, 6, or 11 for this. Some networks automatically pick a channel, but they don't always do a good job with that. Ensure your network is on one of those channels. Manually change it if need be.

Thank you, but again, I already read/saw all of that. I guess what I’m taking away is that if I can find a Roku product that connects to 5 GHz or something other than 2.5, it will likely work...I’ll try that.
Depending on your network, a new device may not solve anything. Some networks transmit both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz under the same SSID. If that's the case for you (we don't have enough info to know) and the new Roku decides the 2.4 GHz is better to connect, it still may not, if the 2.4 GHz band is crowded.
Generally, 2.4 GHz signals travel farther, but over shorter distances, 5 GHz are better. So, a new device may not resolve anything. But, if the issue is caused by the Roku device and not a crowded channel, a new Roku device may indeed solve it.
All Roku devices will connect on 2.4 GHz. Many will also connect on 5 GHz. Look for one that says "dual band" in the details/specifications if you are looking to replace your Roku.
