Re: Connection

Here's what has worked for me.

  • Restart your router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Restart the Roku to clear its memory via Settings > System > System restart (for a Roku TV it's Settings > System > Power > System restart). Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
  • Find and connect to your network via Settings> Network > Set up connection

If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.

Re: Connection

I have done all of those things but still no connection to the internet.  I had no problems until yesterday.  All of the other devices in home connect to internet with no problem.  I have reset, Roku, reset TV, reset modem, all multiple times.  The only one not working is the Roku.  This is actually happening on 2 different TVs.  Both have a streaming stick.  The purple one.

Re: Connection

If you haven't solved the problem yet, try using the unencrypted mode on your network and see if it will connect then.  If it does the problem, as near as I have been able to ascertain, is with the Roku and can't be fixed.   There's something else that can be tried but I don't mention it here because I don't know if it would work for anyone but me with my provider and modem.

My problem was with a Roku Express that had been problem free for several years then suddenly quit connecting, and then with a brand new Roku Express+ I bought t replace it thinking my old one had gone bad.  Don't know it this will be of any help to you or not, or if you've4 already solved the problem, but it's easy enough to try if you're still having problems.

Re: Connection

One additional thought.

There have been recent reports from people with router equipment from their internet provider where an update to the router has turned off the 2.4 GHz band.

Roku models Express, Express+, Premiere, and Premiere+ cannot connect to the 5 GHz wifi band, only to the 2.4 GHz band. If you have one of these models and a your router's 2.4 GHz band is turned off, your Roku won't see your router's signal at all.

If you have another device that connects to your router via wifi, check what channel number it is using.

  • Channels 1-11 are 2.4 GHz channels that the Roku should see.  Channels 12 and 13 are not used in the US, and no Rokus support them.
  • Channels 36 and higher are in the 5 GHz band.  A device using these channels doesn't tell you anything about whether the router is also using the 2.4 GHz band.
